I realize that it’s been a few months since I have posted anything and I am so grateful for those of you who have reached out to check in on me! Everything is ok over here! Just experiencing growing pains during our busiest season. We have been trying to grow into a larger kitchen for a long time. A new lease has been signed and we have been moving forward but everything takes so much longer than expected. So now I find myself in a difficult situation. A one woman show, without a permanent kitchen space, attempting to fill as many orders as I possibly can. I don’t post because when I do I spend most of the day replying to requests for breads…in most cases, explaining why I can’t accept any more orders. My heart is sad to let you all know that I will not be able to open orders up for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Some of you reached out months ago and filled up the very small windows I have to bake. I would love nothing more than to open orders and bake for ALL of you but it’s just not in the cards for me this year. But there is a silver lining!!! Plans are being drawn and contractors are lined up to start on the biggest and most exciting chapter for The Blue Root. I promise to keep you all updated as we get more information! It’s all happening!! Not as fast as I had hoped but I trust Gods timing more than mine. As always, thank you will never be enough for your support! I can’t wait to take you along on our next journey… Sincerely, Melissa
A Family Tradition
As a young child, I spent my days with my grandparents. To them, I was their youngest child. To me, they were my idols. I can still vividly remember tending the garden, picking concord grapes from their vines, snacking on green beans still warm from the sun and harvesting all of the vegetables that my little arms could carry. Everything was made from scratch, everything was a treasured family recipe, and everything was delicious.
From those early years, several recipes stand out, but none as much as my grandmother’s zucchini bread. It is my favorite thing to bake I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has over the years. It’s truly an honor to share it with you!
